Q: Is it easy to download TurboTax?
A: Yes! Just follow these three simple steps:
  1. After completing your purchase, click the Download Now link on the Thank You page. This will take you to your My Downloads page. You can download immediately or return to this page to download later.
  2. Save the download file to your computer (we recommend saving it to the desktop).
  3. When the download is finished, double-click the TurboTax icon on your computer to install.

Q: Can I download TurboTax directly to a storage disk?
A: Although you cannot download TurboTax directly to a storage disk (e.g., CD or flash drive), you can download TurboTax to your hard drive, and then write (burn) the downloaded file to a CD or flash drive. Learn more.
Q: What if I need to stop the download or if the transfer is interrupted?
A: You can stop the download at any time. Visit the My Downloads page to resume the download from where you left off. Even if you're download is interrupted, you won't have to start from the beginning. We'll ask you to set up an account when you check out to enable this feature.

Q: How do I find the file I downloaded?
A: If you chose not to install your product immediately after downloading it, you must find the folder where the file was downloaded and double-click it to install.

If you do not recall the file download location:

  1. Click Start, point to Find (or Search), and then select Files or Folders.
  2. In the Named field, enter the name of the file to be found. The file name varies depending on which program you downloaded.
  3. In the Look in field, select My Computer. The box Include Subfolders should be checked.
  4. Click Find Now or OK to begin the search. Windows will display a window with the search results listed. Once you have located the file, make a note of its location. You can double-click the file from the search results window to begin installing TurboTax.
Q: What if I don't see the TurboTax download in My Downloads account?
A: Make sure you are logging in with the correct User ID and password. If you have multiple Intuit accounts, you may need to check all of them to find your download.

If you don't remember your other User IDs, click on Forgot my User ID at the bottom of the My Downloads page.

A: No problem, just download the program again. Go to the My Downloads page and download TurboTax free of charge. TurboTax is available for you to download as many times as you need to for up to three years after your date of purchase.
Q: How do I uninstall TurboTax from my computer?
A: Here's how uninstall TurboTax:
  1. Select the Start button on your Windows task bar.
  2. Select Settings, and then Control Panel.
  3. Choose Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
  4. Highlight the TurboTax program you want removed from your computer, and then select the Change/Remove button.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: Make sure to save your return as a PDF before uninstalling this program if you want to keep a copy of it for your records. We recommend you wait until after you've filed your tax return before removing any TurboTax files from your computer.
